An embarrassment of talent

If there's one thing you can say about Radio 4 announcers, they all know how to pronounce North Utsire. If there's another thing you can say, it's that they are an extremely talented bunch. For instance, Vaughan Savidge can install a bathroom without a safety net, Susan Rae is a humanist celebrant, Jim Lee is a qualified hypnotherapist, Corrie Corfield is an Olympic skier - OK, not quite, but she's bloody good - and Zeb Soanes is a brilliant mimic.

Zeb has portrayed Alec Guiness and Kenneth Williams on stage in a previous life, but recently he was asked to dust off his acting chops and take on the role of Derek Nimmo for a new radio play by Mark Burgess about the creation of the 60s TV sitcom All Gas And Gaiters.

The original show writers Pauline Devaney and Edwin Apps, who play themselves in the drama, were heard to say "it was like having him in the room!" Bravo, Zeb.

All Mouth And Trousers is on Radio 4 on Wednesday 27th April at 2.15pm, and then on the Radio 4 website here. Zeb did an interview with Pauline Devaney for his website here.
